Eligibility:

The following general requirements apply to foreign applicants (except EU citizens) who wish to study in Germany:

• You must be enrolled at a state-recognized university or college (e.g. Fachhochschule) in Germany at the time the scholarship payments begin.
• You should provide proof that you have already graduated with an initial professional qualification. This programme mainly supports students aiming for a Masters degree.
• You need a good knowledge of German, and we kindly ask you to provide proof of your proficiency. Please note that the selection workshop (interviews, group discussions) will normally be in German. Exceptions (interview in English) are, however, possible.
• Unfortunately, the current guidelines specify that we can not support foreign scholarship holders for stays abroad in third countries for more than four weeks.

The following requirements apply to all German and non-German students wishing to pursue a Masters degree or post-graduate studies:

• You should definitely apply for a scholarship before the start of your studies, in order to ensure long-term support and cooperation.
• The Heinrich Böll Foundation cannot award you a scholarship, if you are studying for a one-year Masters degree and were not previously supported by the foundation.
• Tuition fees for fee-paying courses in Germany cannot be financed by the Heinrich Böll Foundation.

The following requirements apply to PhD-students from outside the EU:

• Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent and must have been accepted as a doctoral student by a German institution of higher education.

Sponsored by the Government of Germany, InWEnt launches program to help implement the UN`s millennium development goals. The program is intended for experts and executives from politics, administration, business, and society.

Participants which expected to participate in this program are the top-level managers who work on a number of facilities in the health sector. After attending the training, participants were not only able to act as an expert and innovative management drivers, but also be part of excellence, the originator of the idea, as well as initial contacts for hospital management in the future.

Expected participants are young professionals aged 32-45 years with a background of academic degrees of BA, MA, advanced diploma or degree in the appropriate fields with the hospital work with work experience in their field for at least five years. As an important note, women applicants are prioritized getting this scholarship.

The InWEnt will bear the training costs associated with the German language course at an assessment center in Hanoi (meals and accommodation, course fees), Vietnam. Special scholarships, InWEnt will give it to the participants who passed the selection process and invited to an international leadership training for 12 months in Germany.

The scholarship covers course fees and course materials, kosumsi, as well as accommodation, pocket money per day, and travel costs associated with the course. Travel expenses include travel to and from the assessment center as well as to and return from Germany is borne by the sending institution as a contribution to the continuation of training.

Forest and Nature for Society (FONASO) is a three-year world-class global Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate programme. The main objective of the Programme is to educate the leaders of the future generation of researchers, teachers and top management staff working with sustainable forest and nature management, in both tropical and temperate regions, to ensure wider societal benefits. Within forest and nature management, the Programme is focused on the scientific fields of (i) economics and policy, and (ii) ecology and silviculture. Emphasis is on applied research.

FONASO is offered by a global Consortium that includes globally top ranked universities and leading international research organisations. The Consortium consists of the twelve partner institutions: (i) University of Copenhagen, Denmark, (ii) The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Sweden, (iii) Bangor University, UK, (iv) Dresden University, Germany, (v) University of Göttingen, Germany, (vi) AgroParisTech, France, (vii) University of Padova, Italy, (viii) Center for International Forestry Research, Indonesia, (ix) Dalhoff Larsen & Hornemann, Denmark, (x) James Cook University, Australia, (xi) University of British Columbia, Canada, and (xii) World Agroforestry Centre,Kenya.

The FONASO Programme is a fully integrated three-year doctorate programme. It builds on existing research schools and environments, taking the best from each to build up joint supervision, activities and doctoral candidate courses. Each doctoral candidate will stay two years with a principal supervisor and one year with a co-supervisor. Doctoral candidates obtain either a joint degree or double degree depending on mobility track. The language of the Programme is English. There is one annual call for applications; short-listed applicants are invited to Europe to present and discuss their proposals.

Our group studies the properties of nanoscale systems using optical spectroscopy, in particular, Raman scattering. The focus of our research work is on carbon- based materials such as carbon nanotubes and graphene. We are looking for a PhD student to join our multinational and interdisciplinary team.

The future PhD project will be in the area of nanoscale physical science. The research focus will depend on the interest and expertise of the successful candidate; possible topics include single-molecule spectroscopy, electron-phonon coupling, and photoconductivity.

We are looking for a motivated researcher, who enjoys experimental work as much as independent thinking. Candidates must have a Master or Diplom in physics, chemistry, materials science or a related field. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in experimental condensed matter physics, optical spectroscopy, and the physics or chemistry of nanostructures.

The PhD position lasts up to four years with a salary of about €1900/month (2/3 BAT IIa). The future holder of the position is expected to participate in the teaching of the Department of Physics (2.67 hours/week during term).
