			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan. The objective of the program is to provide an opportunity for well qualified citizens of the Bank’s Developing Member Countries (DMCs) to undertake postgraduate studies which will assist the economic and social development of their countries.<br />
Who is eligible?</p>
<p>Citizens of developing member countries of the Bank (see list and selection criteria below) who have a minimum of two years’ working experience and who are eligible for admission to the following degree programs at the University of Sydney:</p>
<p>    * Master of Economics<br />
    * Master of Commerce<br />
    * Master of International Business<br />
    * Master of Transport Management<br />
    * Master of International Public Health<br />
    * Master of Engineering</p>
<p>Please note, applicants living or working outside their home country are not eligible for this scholarship. Also, no applicant will be allowed to apply for the ADB-JSP scholarship more than two times.</p>
<p>Application Deadline:<br />
Application closing date for courses starting in July 2010 is 30 November 2009.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>JSPS Invitation Fellowship Program for Research in Japan (Long Term) FY2010 (2010-2011)</p>
<p><strong>1. OUTLINE OF THE FELLOWSHIP</strong><br />
The JSPS Invitation Fellowship for Research in Japan (Long Term) is offered to promote international scientific cooperation and exchange. It allows researchers employed at designated Japanese research institutions to invite fellow researchers from other countries to Japan to participate in cooperative activities at<br />
their research institutions.</p>
<p>Applications for this program must be submitted to JSPS by a host researcher in Japan through the head of his/her university or institution.</p>
<p><strong>2. FIELDS OF RESEARCH</strong><br />
All fields of the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences are included under this program.</p>
<p><strong>3. HOST RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS</strong><br />
The applicant (host researcher) must be a researcher who is employed full-time or classified as being employed full-time at a university or research institution of the types listed in Table I. Fellows must conduct their research at the host’s affiliated institution.</p>
<p>* Full-time employment classification is determined by the regulations of the host institution.<br />
** If a host researcher’s institution is not listed in the Table, please consult him/her. Other institutions can be eligible for the program if they take the necessary registration procedures and are regarded as eligible by JSPS.</p>
<p><strong>4. ELIGIBILITY</strong><br />
The candidate must be a researcher with a research background equivalent to that of a professor, assistant professor or research associate in a Japanese university. As a rule, s/he should be employed full time in an overseas research institution in a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan. (JSPS treats Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers in this manner.) Other researchers may be eligible if they have held a doctorate degree for a period of more than six years prior to April 1, 2010. If the candidate is of Japanese nationality, s/he must have lived abroad and been activity engaged in research for a period of over 10 years.</p>
<p><strong>5. NUMBER OF FELLOWSHIPS AWARDED</strong><br />
Approximately 70 fellowships will be granted.</p>
<p><strong>6. DURATION AND COMMENCEMENT OF FELLOWSHIPS</strong><br />
1) Fellowships are awarded for a period of 2 months (61 days) to 10 months.<br />
2) Successful candidates must start the Fellowship in Japan during the following period:<br />
April 1, 2010 – March 31, 2011</p>
<p><strong>7. TERMS OF AWARD</strong></p>
<p>The terms of the Awards indicated below are subject to change.<br />
?For fellows:<br />
1) A round-trip air ticket<br />
2) A monthly maintenance allowance of ¥369,000<br />
3) Domestic research travel allowance of ¥100,000<br />
4) Research expenses of ¥40,000<br />
5) Overseas travel accident and sickness insurance coverage<br />
For hosts:<br />
Host’s cooperation allowance of ¥50,000</p>
<p><strong>8. APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR THE PROGRAM</strong></p>
<p>Applicants (host researchers) are required to use JSPS’s electronic application system to apply for fellowships.</p>
<p>Applications for this program must be submitted to JSPS by a host researcher in Japan through the head of his/her university or institution. Foreign researchers wishing to participate in this program are advised to establish contact with a Japanese or foreign-resident researcher in their field and to ask him/her to submit an application. They should make this contact well in advance of the host institution’s application deadline indicated below.</p>
<p>Application process is as follows:<br />
1) Contact made between candidate and applicant (host researcher)<br />
2) Applicant (host researcher) submits application to institution’s head office<br />
3) Office submits application to JSPS<br />
* JSPS does not find or introduce host researchers.<br />
* JSPS does not accept applications submitted directly by foreign researchers or through diplomatic channels.<br />
* There is another application channel: JSPS also receives applications for the program through its overseas nominating authorities (Table II). Regarding this procedure, please contact the nominating authority in your country.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Graduate School of Engineering, the Graduate School of Information Sciences and the Graduate School of Environmental Studies are pleased to announce the <strong>Tohoku University</strong> International Doctoral Program in Engineering, Information Sciences and Environmental Studies and invite applicants for 2008 entry.</p>
<p>The program was launched in 2001 through the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho) and is now in its eighth year. In this program, a wide variety of elective courses are being offered in English.</p>
<p>Monbukagakusho scholarships for international students with outstanding scholastic ability are being offered as part of the program. Also, students enjoy some of the world`s best experimental facilities and study along with distinguished faculty and associates to develop creative and original research that is published in highly reputed international journals. Candidates should submit application materials and choose a department for enrollment from the 22 departments listed below:</p>

<p>Twenty-five students will be admitted per year into the program, 5 into each course group. A maximum of 12 students can be awarded Monbukagakusho scholarships. Lectures in English are arranged in areas of students` research specialty. However, depending on the students` language ability, research supervision may be in English or Japanese. And students may also attend lectures given in Japanese to fulfill their requirements.</p>
